We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.” That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

Sometimes I forget how delicious nutella tastes. Then I try a spoonful and I remember…over and over and over again. I’d classify it as a legitimate addiction, let’s be honest.

‘Well done, good and faithful servant’
I just finished reading the memorial article in Maclean’s about Jack Layton. I bawled like it was my own grandfather. Regardless of political ideologies, I’m so in awe of his passion and love for serving others. Truly inspiring.

tomorrow is my last day of freedom list
-bike drive to the krause and pick raspberries
-find that hair dye kit and go streak crazy on my ‘naturally’ blonde hair
-finally sign up for that event management course (praying that its not full because my lazy butt didn’t get around to registering until now)
-crank beyonce’s ‘countdown’ in the car on the way to the beach
-eat unacceptable amounts of ice cream at aforementioned beach
-sit in absolute denial of the fact that tomorrow I’ll be back at school drowning in stats, accounting, and economics classes. BLECH.
-apologize to my friend who’s mad at me. I hate it when that happens (allll too often) sighh.
-make dinner for mia familia
